Circles and Seminars:
Research
Circles and Seminars, sponsored by the Division of International Studies, the International Institute and Global Studies, are designed
to create new forms of area knowledge that
cross traditional regional and disciplinary borders. They involve
Madison faculty and graduate students from various disciplines
in the humanities and social sciences. Circle participants regularly
meet to study common concerns of global significance that involve
multiple world regions. Their activites include organizing various
series of speakers, workshops, conferences, courses, and carrying
out collaborative research on topics of common interest. Some circles
belong to collaborative networks of researchers worldwide as well
as throughout the U.S. Funding for the circles comes from the International
Institute and from the Global Studies Program.
